Guylaine Despatis is a leader in Events Management in Canada’s Capital Region. Having worked as Managing Director and Production Director over 17 years for the National Capital Commission, Mrs. Despatis joined P. Miron Consultant in 2000. Over the year, she has been directly involved in the conceptualization, planning and implementation of major international, national and regional events such as Winterlude, the Canada Day Celebrations, the 125th Anniversary of Confederation Celebration, the RBC Ottawa Bluesfest, 4ième Jeux de la Francophonie, the Leamy Lake Casino Sound of Light.
With a teaching degree in hand, Mrs. Despatis’ skills as an event organizer have served her well in her career as professor. During five years, she worked at La Cité Collégiale in Ottawa developing a Certificate in Special Events Management as well as teaching in the Leisure Studies program. She also collaborated in the development of a Superior Education Program in Event Management at l’Institut de Toursime et d’Hôtellerie de Montréal (ITHQ) where she has also been teaching. Mrs. Despatis is teaching an Event Management course at the University of Ottawa and collaborates in teaching a Logistic course at HEC Montréal for the past four years. She has also been a guest speaker sharing her lengthy experience at l’Université du Québec en Outaouais, l’Université du Québec à Montréal and l’Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières.
Parallel to her teaching, Mrs. Despatis has given seminars in Brussels and Singapor. She has also been the main trainer in a number of courses offered throughout the province of Quebec for l’Institut de l’évènement (IDÉ) where she was also pedagogical advisor.
Finally, she has been giving seminars for the Canadian Federal Government as well as to private sector industries seeking hands on knowledge to ensure the success of their events whether they be educational, sports or cultural.
